Van Briggle Luna Moth Vase 2004 Blue Matte LCB Colorado Springs Art Pottery

Van Briggle has been making the Luna Moth design for over a century, and it holds up. This small globular vase shows the moth in soft relief against a sky blue matte ground — the wings pick up a warm lavender flush where the glaze pools, giving it a two-tone effect that photographs as well as it looks in person. The LCB finisher mark identifies this as the work of Laura Bruggner, whose initials appear on pieces from the Colorado Springs studio.
