Rookwood Pottery Fabeltier 1900 #6243 Wine Madder Glaze Louise Abel Paperweight

This is the Rookwood "Fabeltier" (German for "fable animal"), model #6243, sculpted by Louise Abel. It sits in a crouching, wide-eyed pose with an arched spine and exaggerated striped detailing — whimsical and slightly unsettling in the best possible way. The wine madder glaze pools in warm mauve-pink tones with deep brown drip accents at the feet and base edges. Louise Abel's artist mark is present on the underside.
