This is one of the more unusual Kay Finch pieces you'll run across — a blush-ground plate with Santa's face rendered in full dimensional relief, right down to the textured beard and rosy molded cheeks. The raspberry hat and gold gilt accent lines on the hair curls keep it from reading too saccharine. It's a proper mid-century California Christmas piece.
