This small globular vase shows the moth in soft relief against a sky blue matte ground — the wings pick up a warm lavender flush where the glaze pools, giving it a two-tone effect that photographs as well as it looks in person. The LCB finisher mark identifies this as the work of Laura Bruggner, whose initials appear on pieces from the Colorado Springs studio.

Item Details

* Maker: Van Briggle Pottery, Colorado Springs, Colorado
* Design: Luna Moth — molded relief moth with spread wings and trailing tails
* Glaze: Sky blue matte ground with lavender-purple flush on the moth relief
* Form: Small squat globular vase with rolled rim
* Dimensions: 3 3/8" tall
* Date: 2004
* Marks: Impressed "AA" monogram in square / "Van Briggle" in script / "Colorado Springs / Colorado" / "LCB" (Laura Bruggner, finisher) / "II" and "V4" for 2004

Condition: Very Good
No chips or cracks.
