The diamond lattice and pointed arch motifs cut through to a lighter cream ground, and the vertical incised lines running the full length of the body keep it from feeling busy. The dusty mauve-rose matte glaze is an unusual color for this type of decoration and works well with it.

Item Details

* Maker: Rookwood Pottery, Cincinnati, Ohio
* Year: 1920 (date code XX below flame mark)
* Shape: 1824 — tall tapered cylindrical vase with collar neck and wide flat base
* Decoration: Incised geometric band at shoulder — diamond lattice and pointed arch pattern; vertical incised panel lines running full body length; cream/buff ground visible through incised lines
* Glaze: Matte dusty mauve/rose pink; crazing throughout
* Dimensions: 6.25" tall
* Marks: Rookwood flame mark impressed; date code XX (1920); shape number 1824; no individual artist mark — production piece

Condition

Good.
